In 2000 Pierce Conservation District expanded its volunteer water quality program to include lake monitoring as a service provided to partner jurisdictions. The goals of this program are to provide education about lakes and lake processes, as well as water quality data to assist in lake management decisions.
The District currently coordinates a volunteer lake monitoring program for Lakewood and Milton, and will be coordinating a lake program for the City of Bonney Lake. Volunteers in these areas measure basic water quality parameters and collect water samples for lab analysis monthly May through October. If you live in one of these areas and are interested in participating contact Isabel at email@example.com.
Pierce Conservation District also provides technical assistance to lake homeowner groups upon request. We offer training and use of a basic lake kit to those who want to learn more about their lakes. PCD has also served as the sponsoring agency for lake homeowner groups applying for grant funding to manage/control problem aquatic plants. If your lake homeowner group is interested in learning more about our services contact Isabel firstname.lastname@example.org.
