District Elections Notice: The Pierce Conservation District will conduct a “by-mail” election on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 for a position on its Board of Supervisors. District Supervisors serve in volunteer, unpaid positions for three year terms. Their primary duties are to provide policy, fiscal and administrative oversight for the District, and to represent the District in its relationships with other entities. Election law is detailed in Chapter 89.08 RCW, along with the responsibilities for District Supervisors and Conservation Districts in general.

Elected Position: The person in this position serves on the Pierce Conservation District Board from 2017 until 2020. The position is currently filled by David Seago of Tacoma. Interested candidates must be registered voters who reside within the boundaries of the District. Candidates may be required to be landowners or operators of a farm, depending on the current composition of the District board of supervisors. The filing deadline for candidates to file their candidate forms is February 22, 2017 by 4pm. Interested candidates must file their candidate information at the following location; Pierce Conservation District, 5430 66th Avenue East / P.O. Box 1057, Puyallup, WA 98371. Voting in Conservation District “By-Mail” Elections:
The Pierce Conservation District uses the “by-mail” election process. There are two methods for participating in the District election;
  • In Person: You may appear in person at the Pioneer Park Pavilion, 330 South Meridian, Puyallup, WA 98371; between 4pm and 8pm on March 22, 2017 and vote in person. You will be required to show identification to verify that you are a qualified voter. To be considered qualified you must be a registered voter who resides within District boundaries. 
  • By Mail: You can request a ballot to be mailed to you by providing your name, mailing address, residential address, and legal signature to the District Elections Officer (listed below). To have your ballot counted you must be a registered voter who resides within District boundaries. Ballots must be requested by 4pm March 1, 2017, to be placed upon the list to receive “by-mail” ballots for the 2017 election.
